Happy New Year! - 2009 January 1, 2009
Posted by Peter in : A Day in the Life , add a commentSo what to do on New Year’s Eve… Party it up with mom! We went all out at the local Japanese market (in Santa Monica) to eat the last sashimi of 2008:
Hamachi, mirugai, uni, maguro, sake, and a bunch of side dishes… mmmm…
Followed by some champagne in a non-champagne glass and Belgian chocolate:
My oldest friend Dean happened to be visiting LA and stopped by for a bit:
Of course we found out that all three of us didn’t really like champagne, so we took the obligatory sip and cracked open some beers!
Then off to celebrate New Year’s Day with the Pyuns:
We all took turns checking out the Zero Gravity chair… man, that’s comfy!
Lana spent some quality time with the family…
And became a USC football fan!
Have a great year in 2009 folks!
Merry Christmas 2008!
Posted by Peter in : A Day in the Life , add a commentThis year we had the good fortune of spending Christmas in LA with family. As with Thanksgiving, two dinners. No complaints here!
It all started with Lana’s first picture with Santa!
Then off to the Pyun party:
What to do with all these presents?
Open them!
Jenny was always talking about wanting a full body pajama like Lana… She couldn’t contain her excitement!
Merry Christmas!
Then off to the Lee Party:
Is that Santa downstairs?
No, it’s the sound of Nog induced Jolliness!
A short trip to Christmas City:
Then time to go home…
See you for New Years!
Two Thanksgiving Dinners December 17, 2008
Posted by Peter in : A Day in the Life , add a commentAnd so it begins… two Thanksgiving dinners, then two Christmas dinners, New Years, etc. etc. We were able to avoid all this in the past, but being in L.A. for the holidays has introduced us to the dilemma faced by married couples since the beginning of…marriage! That being said, it is a good problem to have, deciding between two large and loving families to spend time with for the holidays.
It started with the Pyun family:
We cheated and went over for lunch. What Thanksgiving is complete without the boys monopolizing the TV?
Ah, the perfect Korean Thanksgiving lunch: Dolsut Bi Bim Bap. Better than a restaurant!
Little Lana sums it up after lunch with a nice, big yawn.
Then it was time for the Thanksgiving dinner spread! American mixed with Korean, mmmmmm…
Time for a quick photo op…
Then off to the Lee’s for another dinner!
The whole family was there…
Including my partner in geekery, Lani…
And the ever-watchful Ryan!
It was a bit chilly outside, so we had to dress Lana in our FAVORITE OUTFIT. She was like a rock star with her own paparazzi taking pics of her!
It was a great day of family fun. See you soon for Christmas dinner(s)!
Happy 6 Months Lana! October 15, 2008
Posted by Peter in : A Day in the Life , add a commentLana started the day off by dressing up for the festivities.
After a day of shopping and playing, it was time to get ready for dinner.
We all celebrated with a pizza party!
Then it was time for cake!
Milestones reached:
- Sits up well on her own
- Is much better at tummy time
- Grabs at EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. Seriously, EVERYTHING.
- Says, “mommommommommmmm” (and understands that it means mommy)
- Holds arms up when she wants to be picked up
Camera Tricks September 30, 2008
Posted by Peter in : A Day in the Life , add a commentIt amazes me how people can look so different with just a few tweaks to lighting and angles. Take Lana, for instance; she can look completely different with just a few camera tricks…
OK, so they’re not camera tricks. I just couldn’t help but share. More pics are in the photo gallery, check it out!
Get in my belly! September 27, 2008
Posted by Peter in : A Day in the Life , add a commentOnce upon a time, there was a little squash plant.
And on this squash plant, there lived a yellow squash.
One day a hungry Korean giant ripped the poor yellow squash from its home and cut it up into many slices.
And then the Korean giant ate the yellow squash prepared two ways with pasta and potatoes, for apparently he was on a high carb, zero protein diet that night.
The end.

Posted by Peter in : A Day in the Life , add a commentCongratulations to Ryan and Marsha on their beautiful wedding, September 6th, 2008 at the Orange County Museum of Arts in Newport Beach.
It was a beautiful, elegant, and fun occasion and everyone had a great time! They sure know how to treat their guests:
That being said, it was also a great excuse to be in LA for:
Dad’s 70th Birthday:
My Birthday:
Our 3 year anniversary:
And just getting to hang out with family and friends:
It was a great trip, packed with action, adventure, love, and romance. What more could you ask for? Oh, maybe some rest…
Till next time!
Lana’s L.A. Welcome September 12, 2008

Wow, what a party! Lana got to meet the extended family in L.A. for the first time, and what a turnout it was; about 60 people showed up to pinch and kiss her chubby cheeks at mom and dad’s! Oh, and I guess they came to say hi to the parents, too…

Thanks mom and dad for hosting such a wonderful party, it felt like an early Thanksgiving!

And thanks everyone for showing up and for the wonderful gifts! Though, Jody and I have the best gift of all!
More pics to be posted in the photo gallery, check back soon!
Clean at last! Clean at last! Thank God almighty, I am clean at last! July 28, 2008

My mom introduced me to these washcloths over a decade ago when I still lived in Hawaii, and I used them ever since… until we moved to Colorado. There’s no Longs Drugs here to buy them at, and the asian markets don’t have them either, so I finally decided to hunt them down on the Internet and… guess what? I ended up buying a 10 pack from a distributor in Hawaii! How funny is that!
I’m going to make a bold statement here: if you are using anyting other than these specific washcloths, you are probably not as clean as you could be. Cotton wash cloths, sponges, and those nylon poofs from those specialty bath stores are not abrasive enough, and they don’t always do a good job of holding the lather.
So what makes these so special? They hold a LOT of lather, and as we all know, it’s the lather that does the cleaning, not the soap; i.e. smearing a bar of soap on your hand and rinsing it off is less effective than lathering it up really well. Also, they are ABRASIVE. I warn you, if you want to try these for the first time, be prepared: you will feel like you are rubbing sand paper across your body. I had to get used to it again after not having used them for 2 years.
But after you finish your first shower with them, you WILL be able to tell the difference. Your skin will feel softer and smoother, and you will feel cleaner. It’s kind of like using a Sonicare toothbrush for the fist time and noticing how smooth and clean your teeth feel compared to a regular toothbrush.
Man, that’s two plugs in one post!
