L&L!!!!!

So after almost 2 years of living here, we finally decided to try out L&L in Denver.  Picked it up on the way back from dropping off Mom and Dad at the airport.  But how good can plate lunch be on the mainland?  We had Hawaiian plate when we went to see Hapa perform in Boulder last year, but it was TERRIBLE!  The kalua pig was bland and the rice was pasty mush…

Chicken Katsu

Of course I had to have my chicken katsu.  It was just as I remembered it: crispy, tasty, dry… mmmmmmm.  Nothing a little katsu sauce can’t fix.  And the rice was cooked perfectly!

Kalbi Plate

Jody had to have her standard Kalbi plate.  Mmm, kalbi, the perfect side dish to rice…

Malasadas!!!

But what REALLY got me excited was the fact that they had malasadas!!!  OK, so it’s not quite Leaonard’s, but you gotta do what you gotta do, and I gotta get my malasada fix once every couple of years.  They also had manapua (got some of that too), Hawaiian Sun juices, Hawaiian Sun chocolates and candies, Lappert’s ice cream… Man, I wish they were closer!  Oh well, it’s probably for the best.  I think I lost about 5 or 10 pounds after leaving Hawaii.  Too much plate lunch = mac salad blubber…

Mmm, mac salad… I used to always leave mac salad leftovers and throw it away… this time I ate it all!
