Busy Busy Busy January 28, 2007

January was a pretty busy month. I originally had a work trip scheduled for 2 weeks in the bay area, so we bought Jody a plane ticket to visit friends and family in L.A. Southwest Airlines has these great specials called “Ding! Fares” that let you fly really cheap on otherwise expensive flights. This helps a lot, since Denver airport is supposedly one of the more expensive airports to fly out of.
Turns out my trip got cut short at the last minute. However, instead of flying straight back to Denver, I decided to bypass the snow and fly directly down to L.A. to meet up with Jody and company. It’s great that work offers me the flexibility to do this as I am able to work from virtually anywhere with an Internet connection. However, this was a three day weekend, so I didn’t have to work much at all…
We got to spend a lot of time with friends and family, but more importantly, we got to feed our cravings for great food! (just kidding friends and family). Notable eateries included The Hat, Sushi Roku, Gyu-Kaku, and Aloha Cafe just to name a few. Whenever we get to L.A. we gain about 5 pounds, but it is well worth it!
I flew back to Colorado and Jody flew back shortly after. However, we were only able to see each other for one day, since I had to then fly off to Utah for technical training for one week. It was a relaxing week for both of us, albiet difficult to be apart for so long. I just flew back to Colorado on Friday evening and still feel like I’m settling in.
On Saturday, we had a BBQ with Keith and his family since we hadn’t seen them in a while. Yes, we had a BBQ in sub freezing temperatures. It took a while to get the coals to light, but it was well worth it. Nothing beats cooking animal flesh over fire and eating it with beer!
And now I must leave again for work in California. I’ll be flying out Monday and getting back Friday. That gave Jody and me 2 full days with each other. This was a very last-minute trip. As far as I know, the next trip after this one will be to Las Vegas in February, so we’ll probably try to fly Jody out with me on that one.
Such is the life we have chosen, for now…
As usual, I’ve posted a new album in the picture gallery. Enjoy!
